TD-03 | Workshops and Masterclasses at Tarwewijk Playground
About the Project
At We Don't Care Foundation, we believe that creativity thrives best when nurtured early and within a supportive environment. Our project TD-03 aims precisely at creating such a nurturing space through a series of inclusive and easily accessible creative workshops and masterclasses, specifically tailored for the young residents of the Tarwewijk neighborhood in Rotterdam.
These workshops are specially designed to engage youth who are still at the early stages of exploring their creative talents and interests. TD-03 offers them an open, safe, and supportive environment to freely experiment, learn, and discover their creative passions.
Collaborative Community Approach
TD-03 is a genuine community initiative created in partnership with key local stakeholders. We are actively collaborating with Tarwewijk Playground and Cultuur Concreet Charlois, crucial community anchors, to ensure our workshops deeply resonate with and meet the community's needs.
Our workshops and masterclasses will be led by experienced local artists, educators, and creative mentors, who will guide and inspire participants throughout the program. The curriculum will cover diverse creative fields, offering opportunities for youth to explore various artistic disciplines, from visual arts and performance to digital creativity and clothing design.
We envision this as a sustainable initiative, aiming to establish regular workshop days with rotating creative disciplines, always playful, accessible, and designed specifically to introduce young children and teenagers to creative practices for the very first time—such as handling a camera, exploring computer programs, or creating their own clothing. While providing accessible activities, we will also integrate challenging yet achievable professional tasks to help participants build confidence and self-esteem.

Current Status
We recently had a productive meeting with the board of Tarwewijk Playground, where a shared vision emerged to build a sustainable collaboration. We aim for We Don't Care to provide long-term creative programming at the playground, making it a hub for accessible youth engagement. As a next step, we are writing a detailed plan tailored for submission to VSB Fonds, which supports approachable and community-focused workshop series like this one.
The response from VSB Fonds will help shape the future of this program — influencing its scope, structure, and sustainability. Additionally, Cultuur Concreet and the municipality may also play important roles in supporting or scaling the initiative, depending on the outcomes of the funding process and local impact.
We are also preparing to host our Give Back event GB-01 at Tarwewijk Playground in collaboration with Cultuur Concreet. This event will feature previews of the planned workshops, inviting local residents to engage with creative disciplines and explore participation in the full workshop series.
What Do We Still Need?
-
Finalization of the Project Plan: Based on the outcome of our partner meeting, we are now crafting a full workshop proposal that clarifies collaborative roles, session structures, and sustainable scheduling.
-
Promotional Activities: Once the final plan is confirmed, we will begin targeted outreach to local youth and their families, ensuring broad participation and building visibility around the program.
