CW-01 | First Creative Weekend Rotterdam

18/08/2025

About the Project

The CW-01 project initiates our exciting Creative Weekends series is a unique initiative offering dynamic, short, and highly focused creative lab sessions specifically designed for young creatives from various artistic disciplines such as music production, filmmaking, graphic design, content creation, and clothing branding. These weekends provide an inspiring and collaborative environment, allowing participants to work on their personal and collaborative projects, make meaningful connections with other creatives, and advance their practical skills.

Open Creative Lab Concept

Located in our centrally situated creative lab in Rotterdam near Metro Beurs, CW-01 is structured around opening our fully-equipped space for entire weekends, enabling young artists, producers, content creators, designers, and other creative talents from across the city to work freely and innovatively on their projects.

Unique Livestreaming Experience

A distinguishing feature of our Creative Weekends is the continuous livestreaming of each session on Twitch. This groundbreaking element is particularly relevant to today's creative industry and introduces participants to the emerging trend of livestreaming their creative processes. Initially, the streams will allow participants to familiarize themselves with this powerful medium. In the future, livestreaming will offer additional exposure for participants and enable creatives from outside Rotterdam to engage with ongoing projects, discussions, and skill-sharing sessions.

Current Status

Our initial discussions with Cultuur Concreet Centrum about hosting the first Creative Weekend were very encouraging, but despite their positive feedback, we were unable to re-establish contact after multiple follow-ups. Given the lack of response, we consider this trajectory closed, which is disappointing considering the time and effort invested.

In parallel, we had combined this Creative Weekend pilot with a music video program for emerging Rotterdam artists (MV-01) and submitted the expanded proposal to Fonds 21 under their Gen Z scheme. Unfortunately, that application was also declined.

At this stage, we do not have an immediate funding partner to realize the project as originally envisioned. However, we are preparing a new application focused on developing and proving our methodology, which we believe can provide a stronger basis for sustainable Creative Weekends in the future. Our commitment to this format remains unchanged, and we will keep our community updated as soon as opportunities arise. We are also open to organizing a Creative Weekend sooner if the right collaboration or support becomes available.

What Do We Still Need?

  • Funding Opportunities: New partners or funds willing to support the Creative Weekend method and help us pilot additional editions.

  • Proof of Methodology: Resources to formally test and validate this approach, strengthening its long-term impact and scalability.

  • Collaboration: Professionals, organizations, or networks that can help co-create or facilitate a Creative Weekend at short notice.
