GB-02 | Give Back Summer Event
About the Project:
Building on the successful winter edition of our community-driven Give Back events, GB-02 will bring a vibrant, creative experience directly into the heart of Rotterdam-Zuid. Scheduled for August 2025 at the welcoming location of Speeltuin Tarwewijk, this summer edition promises to blend artistic creativity, community solidarity, and direct neighborhood support into one inspiring outdoor gathering.
Aimed at creating inclusive spaces for residents of all ages and backgrounds, the Give Back Summer Event goes beyond a typical community day. Visitors can participate in interactive creative sessions—such as live screen printing led by talented local artists, allowing residents to design and print their own unique clothing items to take home. Additionally, the event will feature an innovative audiovisual experience, with locally produced visuals and a live VJ set showcased on a large outdoor LED screen. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to engage with digital art firsthand, controlling and interacting with visuals via a specially set-up panel.
Food and refreshments provided by local businesses and restaurants will be freely available throughout the event, reinforcing our commitment to fostering genuine community connections and inclusivity. To ensure accessibility, we will proactively invite vulnerable groups through partnerships with local organizations, such as food banks and community centers, to guarantee their welcome participation.
Moreover, the Give Back Summer Event doubles as an open invitation to local residents to discover and engage with the creative programming possibilities at Speeltuin Tarwewijk, our future venue for ongoing creative workshops, talent development sessions, and cultural events. This event provides attendees a practical preview of the exciting creative and educational activities we plan to regularly host at this location.

Current Status:
Our funding application has been officially submitted to Vfonds (Loket D), and initial funding has already been secured from Cultuur Concreet Charlois. A crucial partnership meeting is scheduled for early May with Speeltuin Tarwewijk and Cultuur Concreet to finalize all event logistics, confirm the programming structure, and solidify our community engagement strategy. As part of our backup funding strategy, we are also prepared to approach VSB Fonds if additional support proves necessary to meet our ambitious programming goals.
What We Still Need:
-
Final confirmation of full funding from Vfonds and any necessary supplementary sources.
-
Finalization of detailed event logistics, including creative workshop structures, audiovisual programming, and coordination of local volunteers.
-
Launch of our promotional campaign and active recruitment of neighborhood participants and local creative talent.
