About the Project

Balloon Boy is an engaging short film project developed and created by George, the founder of We Don't Care. The film highlights the essence of creativity, youthfulness, and the relentless hope required to pursue one's passion and talent. At its core is a balloon as the main character symbolizing resilience, creativity, and the courage to follow one's path regardless of external judgments and obstacles.

This project is particularly special as it integrates with a new music project by George, bringing together his multiple talents as writer, director, and lead in post-production. This holistic approach ensures complete creative control, perfectly aligning with the We Don't Care philosophy.

The balloon embodies the core values of We Don't Care, reflecting a carefree spirit and unwavering determination. Throughout the film, the balloon encounters various situations, with its story uniquely told through the reactions and perceptions of people around it. While the balloon itself cannot speak, its mere presence and interactions deeply convey its journey and character.

Balloon Boy seeks to inspire viewers by illustrating the importance of staying true to one's creative path, unaffected by external criticism or challenges. It visually and emotionally represents the spirit of We Don't Care; persistently moving forward, freely exploring new spaces, and remaining true to one's mission and motivation.

Current Status

Although the script, project plan, and budget for Balloon Boy are fully prepared, our funding application to the Municipality of Rotterdam was unfortunately not approved. Previous submissions to private funds also did not succeed, and the project falls just outside the scope of most national film grants.

Despite these challenges, we remain determined to realize this short film. As a foundation, we will do everything possible to make Balloon Boy happen using our own resources. For us, this project is more than a film, it is a powerful visual translation of our mission and the values we stand for.
